China Visa Exemption Policy

Unilateral Visa Exemption
Citizens of the following 48 countries with ordinary passports may enter and stay in china visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits,exchanges, or transit.

Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Malta, Estonia, North Macedonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Russia and Sweden.
Visa Exemption Agreement
China has signed visa exemption agreements with the following 29 countries. Citizens of these countries, holding various types of passports, generally do not need to apply for a visa in advance for short-term travel to China.

Albania, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahamas, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dominica, Ecuador, Fiji, Grenada, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Maldives, Mauritius, Samoa, Serbia, Seychelles, San Marino, Suriname, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Tonga, Uzbekistan, Singapore, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia.

China Visa Application Process

 1. Confirm the Visa Type
Determine the required visa type based on your purpose of visit (tourism, business, conference, etc.). Common visa types include:
Tourist Visa (L Visa)
Business Visa (M Visa)
Work Visa (Z Visa)
Short-Term Visit Visa (F Visa)
Student Visa (X Visa)
For attending an academic conference, you typically need to apply for a Business Visa (M Visa) or a Short-Term Visit Visa (F Visa).
2. Prepare the Visa Application Materials
Valid Passport: The passport must be valid for at least six months and have enough blank visa pages.
Visa Application Form: Complete and sign the China Visa Application Form.
Photo: Recent passport-sized photo (usually required to be 2 inches with a white background).
Invitation Letter: If attending a conference or business event, provide an invitation letter from the organizing committee or company/organization (if needed).
Conference Registration Confirmation: If attending an academic conference, provide a registration confirmation letter or invitation letter from the conference.
Flight and Hotel Reservations: Some visa types may require proof of round-trip flight bookings and hotel reservations.
Financial Proof: Bank deposit certificates, income statements, etc., to demonstrate your financial status during your stay in China.
Other Documents: Depending on the visa type, additional materials may be required, such as travel itineraries or health certificates.
3. Submit the Application
Submit your application to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country, or to the Visa Application Center.
In some countries/regions, you can submit your application through the China Visa Application Service Center. You may need to make an online appointment or submit it in person.
You will need to provide the original passport, a photocopy of your passport, a photo, and all related documents.
4. Pay the Visa Fee
The visa fee varies depending on the visa type and nationality. Typically, the fee is paid when submitting the application.
Payment can be made by cash, credit card, or other methods, depending on the requirements of the local embassy or consulate.
5. Wait for Visa Processing
Visa processing time is generally 4-7 business days. The exact processing time will vary based on the type of application and the embassy or consulate’s processing speed.
If urgent, some embassies provide expedited services for an additional fee.
6. Collect the Visa
Once the visa is processed, you can collect your passport and visa from the embassy or visa center.
 
Ensure that all information on the visa is correct, including the visa validity period and number of entries.
7. Enter China
When entering China with a valid visa, customs may ask you to provide conference-related materials, return flight tickets, etc. Be sure to carry all relevant documents to ensure smooth passage through border control.
